Day Trips from Hội An
Hội An is one of the best bases in Vietnam — some of the most rewarding places on this coast are a scooter ride away, and you can be back in the Old Town by dinner. These aren't trips we've copied off another list. They're the ones we've actually done, more than once, and written up first-hand: where to go, how to get there, and which parts are worth your day.
Cham Islands Travel Guide (Cù Lao Chàm)
A cluster of islands 15–20km off the coast, and the best snorkelling within reach of Hội An — if you do it right. Skip the group tour: it drops you at the two busiest beaches and never shows you Bãi Xếp, where the reef starts a few metres from shore. Rent a scooter, catch the boat, and run your own day. Clear water, empty roads, a 250-year-old pagoda, and a fish-cured, forest-green island that most visitors see only from a sun lounger. Best March–September; bring cash, there are no ATMs.

Tam Kỳ Travel Guide
Vietnam's most overlooked coastal city, and almost no foreign traveller stops here. That's the appeal. A dawn fish market sold straight off the sand, 400-million-year-old black rocks you'll have nearly to yourself, a wetland full of birdlife, and a beach with no resorts on it. Ninety minutes south of Hội An by motorbike, and genuinely one of the best-value family stretches on this coast if you base yourself right. Go for the real Vietnam, not the polished one.
